TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Francesco Bagnaia managed to secure a victory in MotoGP America after taking advantage of an incident involving Marc Marquez early on Monday morning WIB, March 31, 2025. This marked his first win in MotoGP 2025.
Bagnaia started the MotoGP America 2025 race very well, managing to climb three positions from his initial position of P6. He then surpassed Alex Marquez (Gresini Racing) who was in 2nd place.
The rider, affectionately known as Pecco, eventually took the lead in the race after his Ducati Lenovo Team teammate, Marc Marquez, fell while leading by far. As a result, Marquez's top position was taken over.
Marc Marquez could have started the race before eventually entering the pit and being unable to continue. This marked his worst performance after winning in two consecutive series.
"It was clearly a big mistake, because I was in control of the race and managed to close the gap, but I cut the turn in the fifth corner too much and lost control upfront. Is it a disaster? Yes, indeed, but we are human and sometimes we make mistakes," said Marc Marquez.
"The good thing is that we are still very close to the top of the standings, so we keep pushing. We will approach Qatar in the same way, trying to understand how to interpret the track in the best way. The good thing is I know the reason behind my accident, the way I was cutting the turn, I sympathize with the team," he continued.
Bagnaia clinched victory over Alex Marquez, who finished second, with a 2.089-second gap. Meanwhile, he maintained a 3.594-second lead over Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team), who secured third place.
"I'm very happy. It feels special to be back on the podium after going through tough times. I knew I had to be patient because my feelings were not ideal, but we started this weekend well. Clearly, Marc was stronger today, but his condition was difficult, and the curb was very wet, especially in Turn 5, which I had noticed during the warm-up lap," said Bagnaia.
"After his accident, I tried to pull away, but it wasn't easy because Alex had great speed. Winning is what keeps you going, especially when you’ve missed opportunities before. It’s fantastic," he added.
Franco Morbidelli (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) finished fourth, moving up one spot from his starting position. He was followed by Jack Miller (Pramac Yamaha), Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing), Enea Bastianini (Red Bull KTM Tech3), and Luca Marini (Honda HRC Castrol).
