Nearly 81,000 Indonesian Hajj Pilgrims Arrive in Medina

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ministry of Religious Affairs reported that tens of thousands of Hajj pilgrims from Indonesia have arrived in Medina, Saudi Arabia. According to the Integrated Hajj Information and Computer System (Siskohat), a total of 81,632 hajj pilgrims landed in Medina on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 6:00 a.m. local time.

"As many as 17,684 of them are elderly pilgrims," the ministry wrote on its official website on Tuesday, adding that the pilgrims arrived in 210 flight groups.

The first wave of hajj pilgrims who had arrived in Medina earlier has started to move to Mecca on May 10. As of today, 13,655 pilgrims from 35 groups have already arrived in Mecca.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian government today dispatched 7,181 pilgrims to the Prince Mohammad bin Abdul Aziz Airport in Madinah, divided into 18 flight groups.

In addition to regular hajj pilgrims, the Ministry of Religious Affairs also reported the arrival of special hajj pilgrims. There are 41 individuals from two special hajj program organizers who landed at the AMAA Airport in Madinah today.

According to the Airport Working Area (Daker) Chief, Abdul Basir, the special hajj pilgrim service is fully organized by the special hajj program organizers, while the government only oversees it. The special hajj arrivals are not divided into waves like the regular ones.

"Some arrived early, some in the middle, and others arrived just before the wukuf worship. The schedule is flexible, using regular flights. But from arrival to departure, we oversee it," Abdul said in his official statement on Tuesday.

He stated that the quota for special hajj pilgrims this year is 17,680 people, which is about 8 percent of the total 221,000 hajj seats available. Abdul stated that the quota for special hajj pilgrims complies with existing hajj and umrah regulations in the country.
