Prabowo Welcomes Chinese Ambassador, Discusses Enhanced Bilateral Cooperation

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto welcomed the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Indonesia, Wang Lutong, for a meeting at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Friday, May 16, 2025. Ambassador Wang Lutong stated that Indonesia and China are exploring diverse opportunities for collaboration

"Visits and exchanges between the two countries, as well as potential cooperation in various fields," Ambassador Wang Lutong explained following the meeting at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta.

Wang Lutong highlighted that he and Prabowo identified several strategic sectors for intensified cooperation. These areas span investment, food security, energy, industrial downstreaming, inter-community connectivity, cultural education, and more.

According to Wang Lutong, the strong relationship between the leaders of both countries is a crucial asset in the strategic partnership between the two nations. He emphasized that their meeting last year resulted in several important agreements.

"The two leaders continue to maintain close communication, exchanging letters and speaking directly. This strong relationship is an important asset in our strategic partnership," Wang Lutong said.

He further added that coordination between the two countries will continue to be reinforced across all sectors, including business and community relations. "There will be an increasingly strong relationship between the two parties, as well as closer coordination and cooperation between business actors and the communities of both countries," Wang Lutong stated.
