Social Minister Warns Civil Servants of Dismissal for Absence After Eid

1 week ago 9

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf, or Gus Ipul, has warned the Ministry of Social Affairs' civil servants to maintain discipline on the first day of work after the Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijri holiday. Two employees were found to be absent without explanation and face serious sanctions, including dismissal.

"I have just received initial information that two people did not show up today without prior notice. This is not the first time. They have been absent for several months," said Gus Ipul after a Halal Bi Halal event at the Ministry of Social Affairs office, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, April 8, 2025.

The two civil servants in question are from the social rehabilitation unit and the research center. Gus Ipul mentioned that he had just received a report that their absence has been ongoing for over three months. He stated that the dismissal process for the two civil servants will be carried out following applicable provisions.

"If they are absent for more than three months without a valid excuse, the sanctions could lead to termination," he said.

On the first day of work, Gus Ipul stated that most of the Social Affairs Ministry's civil servants were present in the office, while others were carrying out work from anywhere (WFA), and some were still on leave. He reminded all employees to remain professional, disciplined, and to continue to innovate to improve performance over the previous year.

Regarding the WFA implementation, Gus Ipul mentioned that each working unit conducts evaluations. Performance assessment reports will be forwarded to the General Secretariat and then to him and the Deputy Minister of Social Affairs. "The most important thing is to remain disciplined and professional, regardless of the work scheme," he said.
