Suahasil Appoints 14 New Officials at Finance Ministry

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Suahasil Nazara has reshuffled Echelon II officers, senior officials across the Ministry of Finance, and key personnel at the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK) Secretariat.

"Today's ceremony involves both promotions and transfers," Suahasil said at the Ministry of Finance headquarters in Jakarta on Monday, September 21, 2026.

Suahasil noted that the inauguration is a continuation of earlier appointment cycles for senior officials within the ministry. He explained that a follow-up installation was requested after several designees were unable to attend the previous ceremony.

"Those who were sworn in earlier are fully authorized to carry out their duties, as they have been formally appointed and are already serving," he said.

Suahasil added that today's appointments is the culmination of evaluations conducted by the Position and Advisory Board alongside Echelon I unit heads. He emphasized the importance of this structured process to safeguard the ministry's merit-based system.

According to Suahasil, the board operates through a tiered evaluation by assessing the performance and characteristics of every employee to select candidates for talent management.

"This allows us to truly select officials for positions through a healthy, credible transfer and promotion process, which is most importantly understood by all officials," he stated.

Overall, Suahasil framed the reshuffle as an ongoing institutional effort to maintain organizational excellence.

Regarding newly installed officials at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, Suahasil urged them to grasp the broader economic landscape, understand taxpayer behavior, and translate that knowledge into sound policy decisions.

For incoming leadership at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, Suahasil called for sharper risk-based oversight, early identification of violation patterns, and proactive enforcement. "This will reduce unnecessary illegal activities in the future," he said.

Addressing new officials at the Directorate General of Treasury, Suahasil urged them to manage budgets with greater precision to ensure timely public spending that sustains economic momentum and benefits the public.

As for new personnel at the Financial System Stability Committee Secretariat, Suahasil stressed that their roles must go beyond administrative management.

He expects the team to monitor economic indicators, identify systemic risks, facilitate inter-agency communication, issue early warnings, and ensure every meeting leads to concrete action. "The goal is not simply to hold meetings, but to genuinely drive coordination," Suahasil emphasized.
