TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Muhammad Kerry Adrianto Riza, Gading Ramadhan Joedo, and Dimas Werhaspati walked wearily in a line out of the Jakarta Corruption Court early Friday morning, February 27, 2026. The three had just received guilty verdicts from a panel of judges in the corruption case surrounding the management of crude oil and refinery operations at Pertamina between 2018 and 2023. Kerry received a 15-year prison sentence, while Gading and Dimas each got 13 years behind bars.

Speaking before entering the detention vehicle, Kerry said he was confused by the ruling. He insisted that not a single witness strengthened the prosecutors’ charges. Several testimonies that undermined the prosecution’s case did not appear in the judges’ considerations. He confirmed that he would file an appeal. “Hopefully I will get a different ruling elsewhere,” he said.

In the verdict, the panel of judges stated that Kerry, Dimas, and Gading were proven to have arranged the leasing of three vessels owned by Jenggala Maritim Nusantara as well as the lease of a fuel terminal owned by Orbit Terminal Merak (OTM) to state oil company Pertamina and its subsidiaries. Kerry is the son of oil trader Mohammad Riza Chalid. Jenggala and OTM are companies owned by Kerry. Dimas served as commissioner in both firms, while Gading was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of OTM.

The judges agreed with prosecutors that Kerry gained Rp2.9 trillion (about US$171.5 million) from leasing the fuel terminal to Pertamina, plus US$9.8 million (US$580) and Rp1.07 billion (US$63,000) from leasing vessels to Pertamina International Shipping (PIS). The court ruled that Kerry was not entitled to these profits. “The procurement has been proven to deviate from proper procedures, so the defendant is not entitled to the profit,” presiding judge Fajar Kusuma Aji said while reading the verdict.
