Brunei Darussalam's Crown Prince Escorts Prabowo from Hotel to Nurul Iman Palace

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Crown Prince of the Sultanate of Brunei Darussalam, Prince Al-Muhtadee Billah, personally picked up Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto from his hotel and escorted him to the Nurul Iman Palace in Bandar Seri Begawan on Wednesday, May 14, 2025.

According to an official statement from the Presidential Palace, the direct reception by the Crown Prince symbolizes a high honor bestowed by the Sultanate of Brunei on the leader of a friendly nation. This gesture emphasizes the strong relationship between Indonesia and Brunei.

After the warm welcome, President Prabowo and the Crown Prince proceeded to the Nurul Iman Palace, where a series of formal state events took place.

These included a bilateral meeting, an official welcome ceremony, and a state luncheon.

President Prabowo arrived in Brunei Darussalam on the morning of May 14, 2025, accompanied by several members of Indonesia's Red and White Cabinet.

His delegation included the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, the Coordinating Minister for Empowerment of the Disadvantaged, Muhaimin Iskandar, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Foreign Minister Sugiono, and Minister for Migrant Worker Protection, Abdul Kadir Karding.

The President and his entourage departed from Indonesia at 07:00 AM WIB and arrived at Brunei International Airport in Bandar Seri Begawan.

“President Prabowo will receive a state reception from Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah at the Nurul Iman Palace,” said Yusuf Permana, Deputy of Protocol, Press, and Media at the Presidential Secretariat, in a written statement on Wednesday.

Following the reception, President Prabowo and Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah will hold a bilateral meeting with their respective delegations.

During the visit, the Sultan is also expected to confer the Bintang Kebesaran Negara Brunei Darussalam “Darjah Kerabat Laila Utama Yang Amat Dihormati” (D.K.) upon President Prabowo.

“The conferral of the Bintang Kebesaran is the Sultanate of Brunei’s highest tribute to heads of state and world leaders who have significantly advanced cooperation with Brunei Darussalam,” Yusuf added.
