Cristiano Ronaldo Marries Longtime Partner Georgina Rodrguez in Portugal

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Portuguese soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo has married longtime partner Georgina Rodríguez in a private civil ceremony in Cascais, Portugal, on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, according to a statement cited by BBC.

The 41-year-old Ronaldo and Rodríguez, 32, exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony attended by their five children, marking the latest chapter in their decade-long relationship.

Ronaldo confirmed the marriage on Instagram by posting a photo of the couple’s hands wearing wedding rings. He captioned the post simply, “CG.” The post quickly drew millions of likes.

Portuguese media described the ceremony as one of the year's most anticipated celebrity weddings. The couple had announced their engagement exactly one year earlier, on August 11, 2025. Rodríguez shared a photo of her large diamond engagement ring at the time, writing in Spanish, “Sí, quiero. En esta y en todas mis vidas,” which translates to, “Yes, I do. In this and in all my lives.”

Ronaldo and Rodríguez’s 10-Year Relationship

According to People, Ronaldo and Rodríguez first met in Madrid in 2016, when Rodríguez was working as a sales assistant at a Gucci store. Ronaldo was playing for Real Madrid at the time.

The couple made their relationship public in 2017 and have since built a family together. They have two daughters, Alana Martina, born in 2017, and Bella, born in 2022.

Their five children also include twins Eva Maria and Mateo, born via surrogacy, and Cristiano Jr., Ronaldo’s eldest son from a previous relationship. Rodríguez has helped raise all five children.

The couple’s youngest daughter, Bella, was born alongside a twin brother, Ángel, who died shortly after birth in April 2022.

The family currently lives in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where Ronaldo plays for Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr.

Ronaldo’s Career and Family Life

Ronaldo remains one of the most successful soccer players of his generation. The Portugal captain has played for Sporting CP, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus and Al-Nassr and has scored nearly 1,000 career goals.

He has won the Ballon d’Or five times, behind Argentina star Lionel Messi’s record eight wins.

Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr in 2022 and signed a new two-year contract last year, keeping him at the Saudi club through 2027.

The soccer star also recently appeared at his sixth and final World Cup, matching Messi’s record for the most appearances at the men’s tournament.

Ronaldo’s financial success has extended beyond soccer. The Bloomberg Billionaires Index estimated his net worth at $1.4 billion last year, making him the first soccer player to reach billionaire status, according to the report.
