Google AI Mode Now Opens with One-Tap Access on Android and iOS

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta -  Google has enhanced its AI Mode with one-tap access on Android and iOS, allowing users to type queries directly without going through an introductory page.

Previously, accessing AI Mode via the shortcut under the Google app search bar or widget would direct users to a homepage, where they needed to tap the “Ask AI Mode” box before typing. Now, launching AI Mode takes users straight to the input field, with the keyboard appearing automatically.

The interface has been streamlined, showing only the “G” logo and a close button at the top. Suggested prompts disappear once typing begins.

However, with the old homepage now inaccessible, quickly reviewing past conversations is less convenient. Google says direct access to history from the input field will be available soon.

This update is now live on both Android and iOS. On iOS, Google has also introduced smooth transition animations. When the AI Mode button is tapped, the search bar expands to fill the screen, and the keyboard appears.

During the transition, a four-color light effect surrounds the screen, which fades after the animation completes. When AI Mode is closed, another visual effect appears.

These animation effects are currently exclusive to iOS, although Android users still benefit from additional color accents.

This improvement follows Google's removal of the Labs waitlist for AI Mode. The company has also redesigned its desktop interface, adding a side panel for quick history access along with visual enhancements for locations and products.

Last month, Google also launched Lens search for mobile devices.

Previously, Google Lens search on mobile devices was also introduced last month.
