Health Minister Budi Casually Responds to Reshuffle Rumors: 'Ask the President'

1 day ago 6

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin addressed rumors about his possible removal in a cabinet reshuffle by President Prabowo Subianto.

He emphasized that the decision to reshuffle is solely the president's prerogative.

“Well, that’s his right. Ask him,” Budi said after meeting President Prabowo at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, according to Antara, June 3, 2025.

When asked if they discussed the reshuffle during their meeting, Budi joked, “We discussed where the journalists would be relocated.”

On whether he might be reprimanded for controversial statements, he added humorously, “We were given coconut water, even two glasses.”

Presidential Communication Office Head Hasan Nasbi confirmed that a reshuffle could happen.
He said President Prabowo objectively assesses his ministers’ performances.

“Yes, a reshuffle might happen. But when and who will be affected is the president’s prerogative,” Hasan said on Tuesday.

Hasan noted all rumors about the reshuffle are speculation until an official announcement is made.

He explained that the president evaluates ministers’ strengths, weaknesses, and cabinet needs comprehensively.

“What are the strengths? What are the weaknesses? Are they still needed or not? Can they be maintained or not? Only the president knows, as this is his prerogative,” Hasan said.

Echoing this, People's Consultative Assembly Chairman Ahmad Muzani said the reshuffle is the president’s decision.

Asked about the timing, Muzani said he had no information,

“I didn’t hear. It’s all the president’s prerogative. If the president deems it necessary (reshuffle), when, who, I have no idea at all. Haven’t heard, don’t know.”
