1. Indonesia Highlights Advantages of Joining OECD
Indonesia submitted the Initial Memorandum to the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) during the OECD Council Ministerial Meeting in 2025 in Paris, France, on Tuesday, June 3, 2025.
The Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Airlangga Hartarto, revealed several benefits if Indonesia successfully secures ratification. "This is a good image for the market because it provides knowledge about the adoption of Indonesian standards and best practices in various sectors," Airlangga said in an online press conference from Paris on Wednesday night, June 4, 2025.
2. PSSI Calls on Supporters to Show Respect in Indonesia-China Clash
Chairperson of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Erick Thohir reminded supporters once again not to act discriminately when supporting the Indonesian national team against the Chinese national team in the 2026 World Cup qualification match in Group C of the Asian zone at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) in Jakarta on Thursday, June 5, 2025.
Erick emphasized that the supporters must show that Indonesia is not a discriminatory nation. "We hope our supporters will represent our nation. We are not a nation that tolerates discrimination," he said in Jakarta on Wednesday.
3. OECD Cuts Indonesia's Economic Growth Projection to 4.7%
The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has lowered its forecast for Indonesia's economic growth to 4.7 percent, from the previous 4.9 percent.
In response, the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, claims that the downward projection is a global phenomenon. "Trade is also slowing down due to the tariff war, or the reciprocal tariffs imposed by the United States," Airlangga said in a virtual press conference from Paris on Wednesday night, June 4, 2025.
According to the minister, tariff war has reduced the economic outlook of several countries by 0.5 to 0.7 percent.
