TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Henry Cavill is set to executive produce Amazon MGM Studios' upcoming “Warhammer 40,000” animated event series, further strengthening his role in bringing the iconic tabletop franchise to the screen. According to Variety, the project is being developed alongside Amazon's previously announced live-action “Warhammer 40,000” series, in which Cavill will also star and serve as executive producer.
The animated series will focus on the Deathwatch, an elite chapter of Space Marines tasked with confronting some of the galaxy's deadliest alien threats. Dave Wilson, who directed the “Warhammer 40,000” episode of Amazon's anthology series “Secret Level,” will co-create and direct the project. Screenwriter John Orloff, whose credits include “Band of Brothers” and “Masters of the Air,” is attached as writer.
Henry Cavill's involvement underscores Amazon's long-term commitment to expanding the “Warhammer 40,000” universe across multiple formats. Beyond leading the live-action adaptation, the actor is now helping shape the franchise behind the scenes as an executive producer on the animated series, reflecting his long-standing enthusiasm for the Warhammer universe.
Citing The Economic Times, Amazon MGM Studios will produce the series in partnership with Blur Studio and Games Workshop. The animated project is expected to complement the broader “Warhammer 40,000” screen universe, which is currently under development. It will give fans another way to engage with the expansive science-fiction franchise as the live-action series moves forward.
The announcement marks another milestone for Amazon's ambitious adaptation of one of gaming's most enduring intellectual properties. With Cavill playing a key creative role both in front of and behind the camera, Amazon is positioning “Warhammer 40,000” as a major cross-format franchise spanning live-action and animation, with more projects expected as development progresses.
