TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia strongly condemns Israel's military attacks on Gaza, including those against civilians and civilian infrastructure, which constitute a gross violation of international law.
"[The attacks] deliberately undermine the implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan, and exacerbate the suffering of the Palestinian people," the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a post on the social media platform X on Tuesday, as quoted from Antara on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.
Indonesia calls on Israel, as a party to the ceasefire agreement, to "immediately and permanently" halt its military attacks and fulfill all its commitments under the ceasefire agreement in accordance with international law.
Indonesia also welcomes the news that Hamas and other Palestinian factions have accepted the roadmap for implementing the second phase of the peace plan for Gaza, in line with UN Security Council Resolution 2803 (2025).
"This is an important step toward ending the conflict," the statement read.
Jakarta calls on all parties to guarantee full protection for civilians, medical personnel, and humanitarian workers, and to ensure the safe, rapid, and unhindered distribution of humanitarian aid.
Indonesia also reaffirmed its commitment to realizing a credible political process to achieve Palestinian independence based on the Two-State Solution, in line with relevant UN Resolutions and internationally agreed parameters, as a path to achieving a just, sustainable, and comprehensive peace in the Middle East.
The latest Israeli attack on Sunday, August 2, killed at least 18 Palestinians, including three children and an unborn baby, and injured several others in the Gaza Strip.
The attack occurred two days after United States President Donald Trump and the Board of Peace announced an agreement to implement the next phase of the Gaza ceasefire, effective October 10, 2025.
Palestinian officials say Israel has violated the agreement thousands of times through prolonged attacks, arrests, and military incursions, which have killed 1,230 Palestinians, injured 4,076 others, and caused further damage.
This ceasefire follows two years of Israel's genocidal war on Gaza, which began on October 8, 2023.
The attacks have killed more than 73,000 Palestinians, injured more than 174,000, destroyed approximately 90 percent of Gaza's civilian infrastructure, and cost the UN an estimated $70 billion in reconstruction costs.
