TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) has confirmed that preparations for the 2026 hajj are about 95 percent complete.

Despite rising tensions in the Middle East following the US-Israel-Iran conflict, Kemenhaj spokesperson Ichsan Marsha assured that the pilgrimage schedule remains unaffected.

“Preparations are still on schedule. We are continuously coordinating and monitoring developments on the ground,” Ichsan said on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.

Earlier, Deputy Minister Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak emphasized that hajj planning and coordination have proceeded smoothly.

“We ensure that preparations for the 2026 hajj have not been affected so far. All stages are ongoing as planned,” he said on Sunday, March 1, 2026.

The statements come amid rising political and security tensions in parts of the Middle East. The Indonesian government continues to closely monitor developments and coordinate with relevant authorities to safeguard pilgrims.

While the hajj itself is considered safe, the government advises umrah pilgrims scheduled to depart soon to postpone their trips as a precaution due to regional instability.

Kemenhaj, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, continues to work with Saudi authorities, airlines, and Umrah travel organizers (PPIU) to ensure the safety and comfort of pilgrims, including those experiencing travel delays.

“We are continuously coordinating to ensure that delayed pilgrims are properly accommodated in safe and suitable locations,” Dahnil said.

According to the official schedule, the first group of Indonesian hajj pilgrims will depart on April 22, 2026. This year, approximately 221,000 pilgrims are expected to travel to the holy land.
