TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's production of crude palm oil (CPO) is expected to reach 51.66 million tons in 2025, a 7.26 percent increase from the 2024 production of 48.16 million tons. Secretary General of the Indonesian Palm Oil Producers Association (GAPKI) Hadi Sugeng Wahyudi stated that the production of palm kernel oil (PKO) also increased.
"The production of CPO and PKO in 2025 reached 56.553 million tons, which is a 7.18 percent increase from the 2024 production of 52.762 million tons," Hadi said during the press conference on the Performance of the Palm Oil Industry in 2025 and Prospects for 2026 in Shangri-La Jakarta on Thursday evening, March 12, 2026.
He explained that PKO production in 2025 increased by 6.41 percent to 4.893 million tons from 4.598 million tons in 2024. Thus, the combined production of CPO and PKO reached approximately 56.55 million tons throughout 2025.
On the domestic consumption side, GAPKI noted that the total domestic consumption increased by 3.82 percent from 23.859 million tons in 2024 to 24.772 million tons in 2025. The biggest increase occurred in biodiesel consumption, which rose by 10.97 percent to 12.704 million tons from 11.447 million tons in the previous year.
The increase in biodiesel consumption was driven by an increase in the biodiesel blend, from 35 percent to 40 percent. Meanwhile, oleochemical consumption increased slightly from 2.207 million tons to 2.234 million tons—an increase of around 1.22 percent.
Consumption for food purposes decreased. In 2025, food consumption was recorded at 9.834 million tons, a 3.64 percent decrease compared to 10.205 million tons in the previous year.
