TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian has outlined three conditions for ending the ongoing war between Iran, the United States, and Israel, in what analysts say could signal a possible de-escalation as the conflict entered its 13th day, according to Al Jazeera.

In a post on X (social media platform), the Iranian president said any resolution must recognize Iran’s legitimate rights, include compensation for damages caused during the war, and provide firm international guarantees that the country will not face future attacks.

“Talking to leaders of Russia and Pakistan, I reaffirmed Iran's commitment to peace in the region. The only way to end this war — ignited by the Zionist regime and US — is recognising Iran's legitimate rights, payment of reparations, and firm international guarantees against future aggression,” Pezeshkian wrote.

Al Jazeera also reported that the statement reflects a rare diplomatic tone from Tehran, which had previously rejected the possibility of negotiations or a ceasefire when the war began nearly two weeks ago.

Earlier, Iranian military officials warned that the conflict could widen if Washington targets Iran’s port facilities. Abolfazl Shekarchi, spokesperson for Iran’s armed forces, said no port or economic center in the Persian Gulf would be beyond Iran’s reach if Iran’s own ports were attacked

“If our ports and docks are threatened, all ports and docks in the region will be our legitimate targets,” Shekarchi said, according to a report by NDTV citing Iranian state television.

He warned that Iran’s armed forces would carry out “a heavier operation than what we have done so far” if Iranian port facilities were attacked and called on regional countries to expel U.S. forces from their territory.

The warnings come as the war continues to escalate. On February 28, Israel and the United States launched coordinated attacks on Tehran and several other cities in Iran, killing Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei along with a number of senior military commanders and civilians.

Iran responded with waves of missile and drone strikes targeting Israel and U.S. assets across the Middle East, while also employing what analysts describe as asymmetric tactics, including threats to disrupt the strategic Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for global oil shipments.
