Jakarta Governor: We Will Pursue Vehicle Tax Delinquents

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung emphasized that his party will pursue motor vehicle tax arrears because they have enjoyed road facilities in Jakarta without paying taxes. He also said that he would not provide vehicle tax amnesty in his leadership area.

"You have received facilities, you have received convenience, why don't you want to pay taxes," said Pramono, quoted from the Antara news site today, Monday, April 28, 2025.

According to Pram, the government's job is to provide assistance to the underprivileged, such as diploma amnesty, not vehicle tax amnesty. According to him, vehicle tax arrears are generally car owners who have second and third vehicles, so they are not eligible for assistance.

Therefore, he emphasized that he would 'chase' these tax arrears, because these tax arrears have enjoyed the facilities provided by the government and are not eligible for assistance.

"For those who own cars but don't pay taxes, I will not give them amnesty, I will pursue them," he said.

Pramono said that the Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) would side with the poor in Jakarta. For that, the main focus of the Provincial Government is to resolve all the problems of the little people such as diploma amnesty, elimination of Land and Building Tax (PBB) for houses with NJOP below Rp2 billion and apartments below Rp650 million.

"In leading Jakarta, frankly I prioritize the people at the bottom to get convenience," said Pram in closing.
