North Korea Slams Israel's Gaza Strikes, Accuses It of 'Stealing Land'

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - On Thursday, April 17, 2025, North Korea accused Israel of attempting to occupy Palestinian territory and strongly condemned its recent military strike on Gaza.

According to a statement released by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), as reported by Anadolu, the condemnation followed a deadly Israeli attack on Gaza that occurred on March 18.

The assault reportedly disrupted a ceasefire and a prisoner exchange agreement with Hamas that had been in effect since January.

Israeli Defense Minister, Israel Katz, stated on Wednesday that the military “will remain in the security zones as a buffer between the enemy and (Israeli) communities in any temporary or permanent situation in Gaza — as in Lebanon and Syria.”

Israel also declared the closure of all entry points to Gaza since March 2, in order to prevent the distribution of essential supplies to the area.

KCNA condemned Israel for allegedly harboring "ambitions to steal territory," and stated that the country is no longer concealing its intention to dominate Palestine.

The report also accused the United States of effectively ordering Israel's full occupation of Gaza. This refers to a statement by U.S. President Donald Trump declaring that Gaza would be handed over to the U.S. after the war ends.

Israel's "reckless" military actions with the support of the U.S., according to KCNA, clearly show who is responsible for the destruction of global peace and security.

At least 51,100 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since the brutal Israeli attacks began in October 2023, with the majority of victims being women and children.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant in November on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel is also facing a genocide lawsuit at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for aggression in the region.
