Prabowo: A Great Nation Is Not Afraid of Differences

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto stated that Indonesia is a great nation that does not fear differences. The Head of State conveyed this message in a video greeting during the 2577 Kongzili Chinese New Year Festival on Saturday night, February 28, 2026.

Prabowo noted that this year's Lunar New Year, which coincides with Ramadan, is not merely a traditional celebration but also a momentum to strengthen brotherhood and unity. He asserted that Indonesia was not built by a single ethnicity or group, but by all the nation's children.

"This is the true face of Indonesia. Different yet harmonious, diverse, with one goal. Indonesia is a great nation that is not afraid of differences. A great nation actually nurtures differences as a strength," said Prabowo, quoted from the video uploaded to the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube account on Sunday, March 1, 2026.

Prabowo stated that the 2026 Lunar New Year Festival was held across various Indonesian cities, ranging from Jakarta, Medan, Palembang, Batam, and Bogor to Semarang, Solo, Surabaya, Pontianak, Singkawang, Makassar, and Manado.

In Jakarta, the peak of the festival took place at Lapangan Banteng. The event was attended by thousands of citizens and served as a stage for cultural acculturation, blending Chinese traditions with the cultural richness of the archipelago (Nusantara).

Prabowo stated that the festivals held in various regions serve as evidence of the harmonious life shared across Nusantara. "This is proof that Indonesian unity is not just a slogan. Indonesian unity is a reality," Prabowo said.

For him, the harmony of the Nusantara's Chinese New Year is a symbol that the nation's future is built upon togetherness, hard work, unity, and the courage to stand as one nation.

Concluding his speech, Prabowo urged the Indonesian people to welcome the Year of the Fire Horse with optimism and courage. The former Minister of Defense expressed hope that this new year would bring blessings, health, and peace to all Indonesians.

"Gong Xi Fa Cai, may luck, health, and happiness accompany us all," said Prabowo.
