Prabowo Arrives in Doha, Set to Meet Emir of Qatar

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto arrived in Doha, Qatar, on Saturday night, April 12, 2025, after previously visiting Cairo, Egypt. The head of state is scheduled to meet with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, at the Amiri Diwan Palace on Sunday, April 13.

The Deputy of Protocol, Press, and Media Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat, Yusuf Permana, said the president will have a one-on-one discussion with the Emir of Qatar during the meeting. According to him, the dialogue will address strategic cooperation between Indonesia and Qatar in several areas.

Yusuf mentioned that the two leaders will also witness the signing of several important memoranda of understanding but did not explain further details on the event. 

"The two leaders will witness the signing of several strategic MoUs to bolster the relationship between Indonesia and Qatar," he said in a press release from the Presidential Secretariat on Sunday, April 13.

Prabowo will conclude his visit to Qatar by attending an official luncheon with the Emir of Qatar. After that, Prabowo and the Indonesian delegation will continue their diplomatic visit to Amman, Jordan.

Meanwhile, Prabowo is currently on a Middle East tour that lasts until April 15, visiting countries like the UAE, Turkey, Egypt, Qatar, and Jordan. He aims to bolster bilateral ties with countries in theregion while seeking support for his plan to shelter thousands of Palestinians from Gaza in Indonesia.
