Prabowo, Ministers Pay Zakat Before Cabinet Meeting

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto and members of the Red and White Cabinet paid zakat fitrah and zakat mal at the State Palace, Central Jakarta, on Friday, March 13, 2026. The zakat payment was made before the cabinet meeting at the Palace.

The zakat paid by Prabowo and the ministers will be distributed through the National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas). Baznas officers provided several tables inside the State Palace to serve the zakat payments of the President and the ministers.

When paying zakat, Prabowo approached one of the tables accompanied by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. Gibran had previously made the zakat payment at the same place.

Prabowo's personal assistant, Agus Surahman, was seen placing a red paper bag on the table where Prabowo paid the zakat. After the zakat was received, Prabowo read a prayer with the Baznas officers serving him.

Before Prabowo, members of the Red and White Cabinet had already made zakat payments at the State Palace. Among them were Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, Agriculture Minister Amran Sulaiman, Coordinator Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar, and Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin.

After paying zakat, Prabowo and his ministers held a cabinet meeting at the State Palace. All members of the Red and White Cabinet, including ministers, deputy ministers, heads of agencies, and special presidential advisors, were invited.

According to Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, the meeting will discuss the government's readiness for the upcoming Eid al-Fitr in 2026. "Today, there will be a cabinet meeting regarding the Eid preparations," Teddy said in his statement on Friday, March 13, 2026.

Prior to today's cabinet meeting, the President had also held a plenary cabinet meeting on January 6, 2026. The retreat-themed meeting took place at Prabowo's private residence in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java.

At that time, Prabowo reprimanded the cabinet members. State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi conveyed the reprimand during the closed session of the retreat and evaluation meeting of the Red and White Cabinet.

Prasetyo conveyed this information during the retreat break. "(The President gave) a reprimand in the sense of boosting morale," Prasetyo said when speaking to journalists during the retreat break on January 6, 2026.

Prasetyo stated that the President gave the reprimand because he wanted his cabinet members to work faster. However, Prasetyo did not reveal which ministers were reprimanded by Prabowo.
