TEMPO.CO, Jakarta The South Jakarta Metropolitan Police are investigating the discovery of air guns and a firearm in a school room in the Kebayoran Lama area of South Jakarta, Indonesia. Police received a report regarding hundreds of air guns and one firearm found in a locked room.

"The South Jakarta Metropolitan Police received a report from the public regarding the discovery of weapons—consisting of a firearm and air guns—stored in a room belonging to the school foundation," said Adjunct Commissioner Joko Adiwibowo, Head of the Public Relations Section of the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police, when confirmed by *Tempo*.

According to Joko, the report was received on July 15, 2026. In addition to the "Type B" report (filed by a member of the public), the police also followed up on the discovery with a "Model A" police report—an official report initiated internally by police personnel.

Currently, the hundreds of air guns are being stored at the Jakarta Metro Police's Firearms and Explosives Supervision Office, while the single firearm is being held at the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police headquarters.

Hermawanto, the legal counsel for the person who filed the report, stated that the weapons were discovered when school administrators intended to utilize several rooms that had long been locked. The room had previously been used by an individual who was also an administrator of the foundation. The school foundation was previously known to be affiliated with PT Lokta Karya Perbakin. "We filed a report because the presence of these weapons poses a danger to the children at the school," Hermawanto said.

Meanwhile, Alhadid Endar Putra, President Director of PT Lokta Karya Perbakin, claimed that all the weapons were legally licensed, as his company operates in the business of selling weapons for the sport of shooting. He added that the single firearm was also properly licensed. The firearm was found without ammunition or a magazine.

"There are no regulations prohibiting us from storing them in specific locations. What matters is that there is CCTV, the area is locked, and the items are not explosives," said Hermawanto.
