The following is the list of the top 3 news on Tempo English today:
1. Prabowo Seeks Talks with Trump
Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono revealed that President Prabowo Subianto had requested a meeting with United States President Donald Trump. The meeting request was made before Trump decided to raise import tariffs.
"We have already requested a meeting with President Trump some time before the (planned increase of) tariffs (on U.S. imports). And of course, concerning the bilateral relationship between the two countries," Sugiono said in Turkey, monitored via the YouTube channel of the Presidential Secretariat on Friday, April 11, 2025.
2. Tempo Hit by Massive DDoS Cyber Attacks Following Online Gambling Coverage
The Tempo news website has been hit by a massive cyber attack following the publication of a report on online gambling since Sunday, April 6, 2025. A massive distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack targeted the Tempo server at 1:00 p.m. on that day, four hours after the digital article about online gambling was published on the Tempo website, with request accesses reaching 479 million in two hours.
The attacks have persisted to this day, Thursday, April 10. At 4:00 p.m., there were 2.6 million attempted accesses. Cumulatively, the DDoS attacks since Sunday have amounted to nearly 3 billion requests, affecting public access to the articles on the Tempo.co website, especially premium articles featuring online gambling coverage.
3. US-China Trade War: Who Loses the Most?
As other countries scramble to renegotiate new tariffs with Washington, China seems unwilling to back down. China has stated that Donald Trump's trade war with Beijing will fail for Washington, just hours after the U.S. President announced that he would increase import tariffs on the country to 125 percent.
U.S. President Donald Trump has long accused other countries, especially China, of exploiting the U.S. in trade, stating that his protectionist agenda is necessary to revive domestic manufacturing and reopen jobs in America.
