TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran claimed that during the recent wave of missile attacks in Israel, they succeeded in using a "new method" to force Israel's air defense system to attack each other.
"During this operation, thanks to the use of new methods and capabilities in intelligence and equipment, the multi-level defense command and control systems of the enemy failed and began to attack each other," the IRGC said, as quoted by the Tasnim news agency as reported by Antara on Monday, June 16, 2025.
Previously, on Friday night, June 13, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) launched a large-scale operation dubbed "Rising Lion," where the Israeli Air Force attacked several targets and military facilities of Iran's nuclear program.
The Israeli Air Force carried out multiple waves of attacks in various parts of Iran, including Tehran, where several senior military officials of Iran were killed, including the Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces and the IRGC commander, as well as several nuclear scientists.
Several nuclear facilities, including Natanz and Fordow, and Iranian military positions in various parts of the country were also targeted.
Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in a speech to his compatriots, referred to the attacks on Iran as a form of wrongdoing, stating that Israel would face a "bitter and terrible" fate.
The IRGC stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran had launched Operation True Promise III against military targets in Israel in response to the Zionist forces' attack.
Earlier, the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence stated last Tuesday that they had gained access to Israel's missile program and planned to share some of the data with anti-Israel groups.
Iran's Intelligence Minister, Esmaeil Khatib, described the documents as "treasure troves of intelligence information" that would strengthen the offensive potential of the country.
"Another part of the documents received is related to [Israel's] military and missile programs, as well as technical documentation related to dual-use scientific and technical projects," the ministry said in a statement.
The ministry stated that the Iranian armed forces would use most documents.
While other parts would be shared with friendly countries or given to anti-Israel organizations and groups.
