TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Mexico sits atop the Group A standings for the 2026 World Cup, followed by South Korea on Thursday, June 11, local time.

Mexico sits first in Group A with three points from one match after defeating South Africa at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City, according to FIFA records.

El Tri defeated South Africa 2-0 thanks to goals from Julian Quinones and Raul Jimenez in each half.

The referee also issued three red cards in this match: one for Mexico (Cesar Montes) and two for South Africa (Yaya Sithole and Themba Zwane).

Meanwhile, South Korea sits second in Group A of the 2026 World Cup with three points from one match, trailing Mexico on goal difference.

South Korea secured a 2-1 victory in their Group A match against the Czech Republic at the Guadalajara Stadium in Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico.

During this match, the Czech Republic actually took the lead through Ladislav Krejci, but South Korea rallied thanks to goals from Hwang Inbeom and Oh Hyeongyu.

Next in the 2026 World Cup Group A matches, Mexico is scheduled to face South Korea, while the Czech Republic will face South Africa.
