TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's sovereign investment agency Danantara is preparing to acquire a stake in the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) as part of the market operator's ongoing demutualization process.
Danantara Chief Investment Officer Pandu Sjahrir confirmed that the agency is coordinating with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the IDX Board of Directors to finalize the ownership transition.
"Our demutualization process is still in progress, both with the OJK and the Exchange Board of Directors. God willing, it will be completed in the next few months," Sjahrir told reporters at the IDX Building in Jakarta on Monday.
He explained that Danantara's equity acquisition in the IDX will be executed through its subsidiary, PT Danantara Investment Management, following direct investment mandates from agency leadership.
Details regarding the exact size of the shareholding are being finalized and will be announced in due course, Sjahrir added.
The demutualization framework is mandated under Law No. 4 of 2026 on the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector (P2SK Law), which restructures the IDX from a member-owned mutual entity into a joint-stock company.
OJK Executive Head of Capital Market, Financial Derivatives, and Carbon Exchange Supervision Hasan Fawzi stated that state representatives will receive priority in acquiring exchange equity.
"Under the P2SK Law, state representatives through Bank Indonesia, the Finance Ministry, and Danantara will be the first parties given the opportunity to hold shares in the stock exchange," Fawzi explained, noting that private arrangements among key entities will follow.
The OJK is currently drafting an official regulation on demutualization, with completion targeted for the second week of September 2026 to establish the legal foundation for the institutional overhaul.
