TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The number of vehicles heading west toward Jakarta during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr return travel period reached 239,383 between March 21 and 24, 2026, toll road operator PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol said.
Ria Marlinda Paallo, Corporate Secretary and Legal at Jasamarga Transjawa Tol, said the figure was 108.44 percent higher than the normal traffic volume of 114,843 vehicles.
“The high traffic volume shows that the Eid return flow is still ongoing and is expected to continue rising,” Ria said in a written statement on Thursday, March 26, 2026.
During the broader Eid holiday travel period from March 11 to 24, 2026, Jasamarga recorded 415,448 vehicles traveling from eastern regions toward the west, up 6.45 percent from the normal volume of 390,288 vehicles.
Meanwhile, based on shift 1 traffic data on March 25, 2026, the company recorded 23,921 vehicles, a sharp 193.15 percent increase from the normal traffic volume of 8,160 vehicles.
To ease congestion, Jasamarga and the police implemented a one-way traffic system from Kilometer 263 on the Pejagan-Pemalang Toll Road to Kilometer 70 at the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road.
Authorities also periodically opened and closed a one-way traffic arrangement from KM 425+800 on sections A, B, and C of the Semarang Toll Road to KM 414 at the Kalikangkung Toll Gate on the Batang-Semarang Toll Road.
Jasamarga has urged holiday travelers to return on March 26-27, 2026, to avoid heavier congestion. During those two days, motorists will receive a 30 percent toll discount for trips from the Kalikangkung Toll Gate on the Batang-Semarang Toll Road to the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road.
In addition, the company is offering a 23 percent toll discount on all transactions along the Batang-Semarang Toll Road from March 12 to 31, 2026.
“This policy is expected to help spread traffic more evenly and provide direct benefits to road users,” Ria said.
Jasamarga also urged users of the Trans-Java Toll Road to prioritize safety by planning their trips carefully, ensuring that both vehicles and drivers are in good condition, and checking fuel supplies as well as electronic toll card balances before departure.
