TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Two videos uploaded by social media users on YouTube and Instagram [archive] show giant missiles claimed to be Iranian nuclear weapons being transported on trucks.

The clips circulated after President Prabowo Subianto stated that Iran possessed nuclear weapons during an address to Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry leaders at the State Palace in Jakarta on July 31, 2026.

"A serious threat of World War III. Iran has revealed its nuclear weapons to the world," posted one social media account on August 3, 2026. Is the missile featured in the footage truly an Iranian nuclear weapon?

The findings revealed that the video depicting Iranian nuclear weapons is artificially generated content. Furthermore, the Iranian government denies possessing nuclear weapons.

Video Verification

Two different clips show Iranian nuclear weapons being transported on trucks. An AI detection tool developed by Hive Moderation flagged the first video clip as artificially generated content with a 99.9 percent probability.

An analysis by Zhuque AI Detection Assistant similarly indicated that the video was artificially generated, showing an 85.17 percent probability.

The second clip yielded a comparable result, returning a 61.38 percent probability of being AI-generated.

Iran Denies Nuclear Weapons Allegations

President Prabowo Subianto claimed that Iran already possesses nuclear weapons during his address to the leadership of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the State Palace in Jakarta on Friday, July 31, 2026.

"It is said that Iran already possesses nuclear weapons. Now Saudi Arabia also wants to possess nuclear weapons. If Saudi Arabia wants to possess nuclear weapons, it is possible that the United Arab Emirates also wants to possess nuclear weapons, Qatar also wants to possess nuclear weapons, and Egypt also wants to possess nuclear weapons," Prabowo said.

The Iranian Embassy in Indonesia refuted the statement via its official social media channels, including Instagram and X handle @IraninIndonesia, on Sunday, August 2, 2026.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran has never pursued nuclear weapons and will never do so," the embassy stated.

The post was accompanied by an infographic titled "The Islamic Republic of Iran's Nuclear Program." The embassy explained that the country's nuclear program adheres to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) and operates under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
