TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Attorney General's Office (AGO) questioned executives of PT Google Indonesia as part of an investigation into alleged corruption in the procurement of Chromebook laptops under the Education Digitalization Program for the 2019–2022 period. The interrogation took place at the Bundar Building by the Special Crimes Deputy Attorney General's team on Monday, October 6, 2025.
"The witness who was questioned is PRA, the Director of Government Relations and Policies at PT Google Indonesia," said the Head of the Attorney General's Legal Information Center, Anang Supriatna, in a written statement on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.
Aside from the top official of Google Indonesia, investigators also summoned 10 other witnesses from the government and private sectors. They include DS, a civil servant at the Government Procurement Policy Agency (LKPP); APU, a member of the Electronic Catalog Provider Selection Task Force of LKPP in 2020; and SR, the Head of the Imaging Solution Division at PT Samafitro.
Other witnesses who were also questioned include GH, the Director of PT Turbo Mitra Perkasa; CI, the Principal Auditor at the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Education and Culture for the 2013–2024 period; and INRK, an Acting Director of Junior High School at the Directorate General of Early Childhood Education, Basic Education, and Secondary Education for the 2022–2024 years.
The investigators also questioned WJA, the Acting Director of Senior High School at the Ministry of Research and Technology for the 2022–2024 period; MWD, the Head of General Affairs and Procurement at the Secretariat General of the Ministry of Education and Culture in 2020; TRI, an official with a similar position in 2021; and HK, the Assistant Expenditure Treasurer at the Ministry of Education and Culture for the year 2022.
A total of 11 people were questioned in the Chromebook case on Monday. Anang did not detail the interrogation material of the eleven witnesses. "The witness questioning was conducted to strengthen evidence and complete the dossier in the case," he said.
The Attorney General's Office has designated Former Education Minister Nadiem Makarim as the fourth suspect in the corruption case of the Chromebooks procurement at the Ministry of Education. The other four suspects are former subordinates during his tenure as Minister of Education.
They are Nadiem's former special staff, Jurist Tan; former consultant of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Ibrahim Arief; Director of Elementary School at the Ministry of Education and Culture for the 2020–2021 period, Sri Wahyuningsih; and Director of Junior High School (SMP) at the Ministry of Education and Culture, Mulyatsyah.
Of the four suspects in the Chromebook case, only Nadiem has filed for pretrial. While Jurist Tan is still being pursued by the prosecution, as she is abroad. Only Mulyatsyah and Wahyuningsih are currently in detention. Meanwhile, Ibrahim is held in a city detention facility due to chronic heart disease.
