Here Are the Countries Screening the Film Jumbo

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - After achieving great success domestically, Indonesia's animated film Jumbo is now being screened internationally starting from June 2025. The Director of Film, Animation, and Video of the Ministry of Creative Economy, Doni Setiawan, stated that the success of the film Jumbo showcases the ability of local creators in producing creative works.

"The film Jumbo has proven that local creators are capable of producing innovative and creative works, and this signifies the rise of Indonesian animation, which deserves to be further developed," said Doni in a press release as quoted from Antara, Thursday, June 5, 2025.

Countries Screening the Film Jumbo in Theaters

Doni conveyed that the Ministry of Creative Economy fully supports the launch of this animated film in international theaters to introduce Indonesian animated works to the global community.

"The Ministry of Creative Economy is fully committed to supporting the works of the nation's children to not only be recognized nationally but also to compete globally, thereby driving the national economy," he said.

The Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, mentioned on her social media account that the film Jumbo had been screened in Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan on June 5, 2025. The highest-grossing animated film in Indonesia will then be screened in Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, and Singapore starting from June 26, 2025.

The Director of Public Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ani Nigeriawati, stated that the film Jumbo could become an Indonesian diplomatic asset to touch the hearts and minds of the global community.

"We are pleased to bring Jumbo to be screened at various international film festivals and other diplomatic promotions, so that the cultural richness and creativity of Indonesia can be widely known by the international community," she said.

Jumbo is an Indonesian animated film produced by Visinema Studios, depicting an adventure about family, friendship, and courage. The film was crafted by Ryan Adriandhy as the writer and director. The film was initially released in theaters during the Eid holiday, precisely on March 31, 2025.

The film Jumbo has set a record as the best-selling Indonesian film of all time after attracting an audience of 10,076,973 viewers in 63 days of screening in theaters. The film successfully surpassed KKN in Desa Penari (2022). On Friday, May 30, 2025, Visinema also claimed Jumbo as the animated film with the highest number of viewers in Southeast Asia.
