TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto stated that the Indonesian government will build several centralized studios to support remote teaching and learning activities. These facilities will be staffed by selected teachers who will conduct classes online.

This facility, said Prabowo, will be accessible to thousands of schools. "For any subject, we will gather the best teachers," Prabowo stated while delivering a speech at the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Annual Session at the Parliament complex in Jakarta on Friday, August 14, 2026.

One of the subjects focuses on foreign languages. Prabowo identified the following foreign languages as those that students in the country must master: English, Mandarin, Arabic, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Russian, and French. These foreign languages should be taught beginning in primary education.

“By the first grade of elementary school, they must start speaking a foreign language,” said the Gerindra Party chair. The reason is that young children are considered to absorb knowledge more easily.

Through this program, Prabowo hopes that every student in Indonesia will have access to quality education. The government, he said, will distribute three additional screens—or interactive flat panels—to every school.

He aims for every school in Indonesia to have at least four classrooms equipped with those interactive smart screens. In this way, he said, teachers at any school would have access to the curriculum or educational content.

“They (teachers and students) can go over the lessons repeatedly. If they haven't mastered the material, they can do so two or three times. They can also access this program from home,” said the former Commander General of the Special Forces Command.
