Jetstar Asia Confirms Exit from Indonesia, Last Flight Set for July 31

23 hours ago 9

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jetstar Asia Airways will officially cease all operations in Indonesia starting July 31, 2025.

Agustinus Budi Hartono, Director of Air Transport at the Ministry of Transportation, said the information was delivered verbally by the General Manager of Qantas Group for Southeast Asia and South Asia.

"Jetstar Asia plans to close all of its flight operations in Indonesia," Agustinus told Tempo in a written statement on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.

Although the plan has been communicated, Agustinus noted that Jetstar Asia has not yet submitted a formal written notice to the Indonesian government.

"No official notice has been submitted to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. The final flight is scheduled for July 31, 2025," he said.

He added that the ministry has asked the airline to immediately send an official notification and issue a public statement containing complete details.

Before ending its services in Indonesia, Agustinus emphasized that the Singapore-based airline must fulfill several regulatory obligations. He said the airline must close its reservation system and ensure all affected passengers and cargo are properly managed.

The company is also expected to settle outstanding administrative, financial, and technical matters with all relevant stakeholders, including airport authorities, navigation service providers, ground handling services, and sales agents

"The airline is also required to return its slot times to the slot manager, submit the necessary route approvals, and report the closure of its representative office to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation," Agustinus added.

Jetstar Asia first began operating in Indonesia on November 1, 2024. The airline is based in Singapore and operated by Newstar Holdings Pty Ltd. Singapore’s Westbrook Investments Pte Ltd holds a 51 percent stake in the airline, while the remaining 49 percent is owned by Qantas Group.
