TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The former President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo or Jokowi, and Iriana are set to celebrate Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri in Jakarta. The President plans to perform the Eid prayer at Al-Bina Mosque, located within the Gelora Bung Karno sporting complex in Central Jakarta.
"Bapak-Ibu (Jokowi and Iriana) will perform the prayer at GBK on Saturday, March 21," said Jokowi's aide, Police Commissioner Syarif Muhammad Fitriansyah, in a text message to Tempo on Friday, March 20, 2026.
Syarif has not confirmed whether the father of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka will also meet President Prabowo Subianto for a halal bihalal gathering. Jokowi and Iriana departed for Jakarta on Thursday, March 19, 2026.
They will remain in Jakarta until March 24, 2026. The moment Jokowi and Iriana departed from Solo was uploaded to the former mayor's Instagram account on Friday, March 20, 2026. Jokowi will spend Eid gathering with family and grandchildren in Jakarta.
"To gather with family, to relieve the longing, especially with grandchildren who always bring joy and new stories," Jokowi said through his Instagram account.
During last year's Eid in 2025, Jokowi celebrated in Solo. Along with Iriana, Jokowi performed the Eid prayer at a mosque near their home in the Sumber sub-district. Several figures visited Jokowi's house at that time, including Prabowo's son, Didit Hediprasetyo Djojohadikusumo, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, and Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.
