TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Railway Corporation (PT KAI) apologized for the accident that occurred between Argo Bromo Anggrek train and the CommuterLine train (KRL) at Bekasi Timur Station, Bekasi.
"Currently, all efforts are focused on the evacuation process of passengers and train crews, as well as handling the victims at the scene with the primary priority of safety," said Vice President Corporate Communication KAI Anne Purba in an official statement on Monday, April 27, 2026.
She stated that KAI continues to coordinate with all relevant parties in the field to handle this incident. Information on the handling at the scene will be provided periodically.
According to Tempo's observations at the scene, the evacuation process for passengers is still ongoing. Volunteers and station security officers are seen carrying passengers using stretchers.
The cause of the collision between the two trains is still unknown. However, as of 21:41 local time, personnel are still struggling to evacuate the passengers. Meanwhile, the two collided train sets are still at the scene.
KAI Public Relations Manager of Daop 1 Jakarta, Franoto Wibowo, apologized to the customers for the inconvenience caused. "Currently, PT KAI, together with the police, is carrying out the process of evacuating the train sets and handling the victims at the scene. We are making every effort to ensure that the operation of train travel can return to normal as soon as possible," said Franoto.
