TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Central Leadership of Muhammadiyah has provided 76 prayer locations across Jakarta for the Eid al-Fitr observations today, on Friday, March 20, 2026.
In Central Jakarta, Muhammadiyah conducted Eid prayer at 11 locations, including the courtyard of the PP Muhammadiyah Building in Menteng; At-Taqwa Mosque on Jalan Kramat Raya; and Jamiatussholihin Mosque in Johar Baru.
For congregants in South Jakarta, the Eid prayer locations are spread across 15 points, such as at the Postgraduate School of UHAMKA; Muhammadiyah Educational Complex in Cipulir; and Aisyah Mosque in West Cilandak.
In West Jakarta, the Eid prayer locations are spread over 22 points, starting from Raya Muhammadiyah Uswatun Hasanah Cengkareng Mosque; Al Furqon Mosque in Slipi; to the field of SMAN 2 Jakarta on Jalan Gajah Mada.
Then, in East Jakarta, Muhammadiyah has provided Eid prayer locations at 14 points, such as at Muhammadiyah Utan Kayu Educational Complex; Nurul Islam Mosque in Cililitan; and Istiqomah Mosque in Pasar Rebo.
Meanwhile, in North Jakarta, congregants are directed to 14 Eid prayer locations, including Darusy Syfa Mosque in the Islamic Hospital Jakarta Complex; Al Jihad Mosque in Koja; and Al Hikmah Mosque in East Pademangan.
Based on information on the official website of Muhammadiyah, congregants across Indonesia can access the locations for the Eid prayer in their respective areas through the MASA application or https://s.Id/LokasiSalatIdulFitri1447H website.
Muhammadiyah determines that 1 Shawwal 1447 Hijri falls on Friday, March 20, 2026 today. The Chair of the Hisab Division of the Science and Technology Board of the Tarjih and Tajdid Assembly of PP Muhammadiyah, Oman Fathurrahman, explained that the determination is based on the use of the Global Unified Hijri Calendar (GUHC), which is based on the hisab method.
Yesterday, the government determined that 1 Shawwal 1447 Hijri falls on Saturday, March 21, 2026. The decision was made at the isbat session led by Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar on Thursday.
Nasaruddin stated that the observation of the new moon crescent in all regions of Indonesia showed that the young crescent moon had not met the criteria set by the ministers of religious affairs of Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia (MABIMS), especially in terms of elongation.
"The height of the crescent above the horizon ranges from 0 degrees 54 minutes 27 seconds to about 3 degrees, with elongation starting from 4 degrees 32 minutes 40 seconds," he said in a press conference at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Office.
Nazaruddin added that based on the results of the new moon crescent sightings in various regions, there were no reports of the crescent being seen. Therefore, the government decided to complete the month of Ramadan to 30 days (istikmal), so that 1 Shawwal falls on Saturday.
