TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI), a part of Pertamina's Upstream Subholding that manages upstream oil and gas assets in Kalimantan, recorded an oil and gas production performance above target throughout the first quarter of 2026.
"Throughout January to March 2026, the company recorded oil production of more than 120 percent of the target. Positive performance was also shown for gas production, reaching around 104 percent of the target," stated Senior Manager Relations, Handri Ramdhani, in a statement in Jakarta on Sunday, April 26, 2026, as reported by Antara.
PHI's production achievement was obtained together with its subsidiaries that manage upstream oil and gas operations in the Kalimantan region, namely PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam, PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga, and PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur. PHI also manages the assets of PT Pertamina EP and PHE in this region.
Handri stated that PHI's oil and gas production achievement reflects a positive trend in the national upstream oil and gas sector. The actual production of PHI's oil in the January-February 2026 period reached 60,300 barrels per day from the target of 49,400 barrels per day (bpd), or around 122 percent.
Meanwhile, gas production also recorded positive performance. The actual production reached 606,000 thousand standard cubic feet per day (MSCFD) from the target of 583,000 MSCFD, or around 104 percent. The biggest contribution to this performance came from PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM), one of PHI's subsidiaries that manages the Mahakam Block in East Kalimantan.
Handri explained that this achievement is part of the upstream oil and gas industry's efforts to support the government's target for energy self-sufficiency.
