Prabowo Asks Officials Not to Believe in Capitalism, Says Minister

2 days ago 8

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar stated that Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto asked his officials not to believe in capitalism during the meeting.

He revealed this during a speech at the inauguration of the Central Board of the Alumni Association of PMII (IKA PMII) for the 2025-2030 period at the Bidakara Hotel, South Jakarta, on Sunday, July 13, 2025.

Cak Imin, as he is commonly called, said that the directive was conveyed when Prabowo chaired the final meeting during an overseas visit. He mentioned that the advice was given in the last three meetings, but the message in the final meeting was very explicit.

"Mr. President, Mr. Prabowo stated, firstly, do not believe in capitalism anymore. Never believe in the trickle-down effect, it's all a lie. The President said that," Cak Imin said.

Cak Imin stated that Prabowo's order was actually embraced by all members of PMII. Therefore, according to Cak Imin, PMII's view is in line with the times.

The Chairman of the Nation's Awakening Party said that President Prabowo stated in the meeting that the theory of capitalism will never bring about growth and progress in Indonesia.

"Previously, Mr. Prabowo said there is no way out other than returning to the mandate of Article 33 (Constitution of 1944). It's back and forth. Then pull out the output again, the people's school output, and the output of the Red and White Village Cooperative," Cak Imin said.

Last weekend, President Prabowo chaired a limited meeting with seven coordinating ministers of the Red and White Cabinet and State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi via video conference during the overseas visit to Belgium.

Prabowo chaired the meeting at 5:00 PM WIB accompanied by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya in Brussels, the capital of Belgium, on Saturday, July 12, 2025.

"A day before carrying out a series of activities in Belgium to attend invitations from the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Council, Antnio Costa, and King Philippe Lopold Louis Marie of Belgium, President Prabowo Subianto held a limited meeting," Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said in his written statement on Saturday, July 12, 2025.

Teddy said the limited meeting discussed various matters related to the coordination areas of each Coordinating Minister, including the government's commitment to law enforcement in Indonesia, the development of the People's School program, and the progress of the Red and White Cooperative initiative. Prabowo also highlighted the preparedness to face extreme weather conditions that occurred in several regions in the country.

"The Head of State also discussed the preparedness to face extreme weather conditions in the Jakarta Province, West Java, Banten, and other provinces, as well as various other strategic agendas," Teddy said.
