TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto arrived at Marka Military Airport, Amman, Jordan, on Sunday at 17:56 local time. The presidential plane carrying Prabowo was escorted by two fighter jets.
As reported by Antara, after arriving at the airport, Prabowo was greeted by King Abdullah II. The Jordanian king waited not far from the plane's stairs and immediately greeted Prabowo who had just finished his previous visit to Doha, Qatar.
The moment of closeness between the two leaders was seen when King Abdullah II invited Prabowo to board a vehicle together to the hotel where he was staying. King Abdullah II even invited Prabowo to sit in the front seat and be driven directly to the hotel.
In Jordan, Prabowo spent the night in the capital city of Amman. He was escorted directly by Jordan's King Abdullah II to the hotel.
"Next, the President headed to the hotel where he was staying overnight, accompanied directly by King Abdullah II. He even drove the presidential vehicle, taking or escorting the President to his overnight stay in Amman City, Jordan," said Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Media of the Indonesian Presidential Secretariat, Yusuf Permana.
On Sunday night, Prabowo was invited to a private dinner at the residence of King Abdullah II.
Yusuf added that this moment reflected the personal closeness between the two leaders of state. They last met in June 2024 at the "Call for Action: Urgent Humanitarian Response for Gaza" summit.
"This signifies the personal closeness of the two leaders of state. It also shows the warm relationship between the two leaders that has indeed existed for several years," he said.
Today, Monday, April 14, 2025, Prabowo and King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein are scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting and witness the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the Al Husseiniya Palace, Amman.
Prabowo and King Abdullah II are scheduled to begin the meeting with a two-on-one discussion followed by a bilateral meeting by each ministerial delegation. After that, Yusuf added that there will be several MoU signings that will be witnessed directly by both heads of state.
Prabowo's visit to the Middle East carries the main mission of resolving peace in Gaza, Palestine, including plans to evacuate Palestinians to Indonesia.
A number of ministers from the Red and White Cabinet appeared to have arrived in Jordan first, such as Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman, and Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar.
