TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that Indonesia is on the right track in facing global geopolitical dynamics because it consistently pursues an independent and active foreign policy and does not side with any bloc.
Prabowo said the current global situation is filled with tension and conflict in various regions, such as the Middle East. He stated that although Indonesia is geographically far from the epicenter of these conflicts, their impact can still be felt because the world is now increasingly connected.
"Our nation, our country, is on the right track. We are on the path of impartiality. We have always been on the path of being free and active, non-aligned," he said, as quoted in a live broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube channel on Monday afternoon.
The President considered this global situation a reminder of the importance of Indonesia maintaining an independent foreign policy stance and not being tied to the interests of any particular bloc.
According to him, Indonesia continues to respect all countries and world powers, while maintaining good relations with various parties without taking sides in international conflicts.
Prabowo said this stance is also in line with Indonesia's national values, which uphold diversity.
"We respect all powers, we respect all countries. That's Indonesia. We have Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (Unity in Diversity) domestically, but also abroad, we respect all nations, all religions, all races, and all ethnic groups," he said.
He added that this approach is one of the factors that has enabled Indonesia to maintain stability and live peacefully amidst the diversity of hundreds of ethnic groups in the country.
"This is what allows Indonesia to enjoy peace today. We can live side by side with hundreds of ethnic groups, but we can still live in harmony," Prabowo added.
