Putin Extends Eid Greetings, Highlights Muslims' Contributions to Russia

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Russian President Vladimir Putin extended his Eid al-Fitr greetings for 1447 H to all Muslims, especially those in the Russian Muslim community who have consistently contributed to the country's progress.

As reported by Antara, in a written statement released on Saturday by the Russian Embassy in Jakarta and attributed to President Putin, he acknowledged Eid al-Fitr as a time for Muslims to "uphold the values of generosity and compassion and to be reminded of the eternal values of Islam."

"I would like to emphasize that Russian Muslims uphold the historical and spiritual traditions inherited from their ancestors and celebrate this holiday widely within the community and within the family," the Russian president said.

During the month of Ramadan, Muslims in Russia consistently organize various charitable, cultural, and educational activities and large-scale events for children. Putin called this a good tradition.

He said that Muslim organizations have made constructive contributions to strengthening the family, nurturing the younger generation, and fostering dialogue with state institutions and society.

Putin mentioned that they also consistently pay great attention to the implementation of various patriotic, educational, and humanitarian initiatives.

"I extend my special appreciation to the Muslim believers who stood shoulder to shoulder with their comrades in the struggle to defend the freedom and independence of the Motherland," said the Russian President.

He also praised Muslims for always supporting their families and loved ones, especially the nation's heroes. Putin hopes that the Muslim community in Russia will always enjoy good health and success.

The Muslim community in Russia celebrated Eid al-Fitr 1447 H, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, on March 20, 2026.
