1. 2025 Annual Japanese Film Festival to Be Held in Indonesia's Nine Major Cities
Japan Foundation is once again holding the annual Japanese Film Festival (JFF) 2025 in Indonesia. The film festival, which has been held since 2016, aims to build understanding about Japan, particularly through cinema.
JFF will take place in various CGV cinemas throughout November to December 2025. This year, JFF will visit nine major cities in Indonesia.
The JFF 2025 series officially kicks off in Jakarta. The event is scheduled to take place from November 6th to 9th, 2025 at CGV Grand Indonesia.
2. UN Reaches Out to Gaza's Disabled Community After Ceasefire
The Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, Stephane Dujarric, welcomes the continuation of ceasefire implementation in Gaza, based on the proposal from U.S. President Donald J. Trump, including the release of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners.
In a release received by Tempo on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, Dujarric stated, "UN agencies are reaching communities in areas that were cut off for months, delivering life-saving assistance."
The UN reports that humanitarian workers and their partners can now move more easily "in various areas in Gaza" - a development welcomed after continuous blockade by Israeli authorities.
3. COP30: Indonesia Remains Hopeful for National Climate Pledge as September Deadline Passes
As the UN Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC COP 30) approaches, Indonesia failed to submit its Second Nationally Determined Contribution (Second NDC) on time, as the September deadline passed. Despite this, the government ensured that it had prepared the draft of the document.
Director of Economic Development and Environmental Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tri Purnajaya, reassured that Indonesia remains committed to achieving the Net Zero Emission (NZE) target by 2060, or earlier. He mentioned that Indonesia's climate diplomacy is directed to accommodate the principle of Common but Differentiated Responsibilities-Respective Capabilities (CBDR-RC) and Just and Equitable Transition in global efforts to address climate change.
