1. Indonesia Knocked Out in 2026 Thomas Cup Group Stage

Indonesia’s men’s badminton team suffered a historic early exit from the 2026 Thomas Cup after a 1–4 defeat to France in the decisive Group D tie at Forum Horsens on Wednesday, April 29.

The loss marks an unprecedented setback for Indonesia, one of badminton’s traditional powerhouses with 14 Thomas Cup titles. Since its debut in 1958 through to the 2024 edition, Indonesia had always progressed beyond the group stage, with its previous worst result being a quarterfinal finish in 2012.

2. Prabowo Approves Rp200bn Aid for Bekasi Flyover After Train Crash

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto will give out hundreds of billions of rupiah in assistance for flyover construction in Bekasi following a train collision that killed at least 15 late Monday, according to Deputy House Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad.

The Bekasi government had previously proposed to build a flyover to address the traffic near the railway crossing in the Bulak Kapal area, but was blocked by budget constraints.

3. Prabowo Pledges to Tackle Waste Issue by 2029

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto claimed that he will tackle the waste issue in the country before his term ends, in two to three years.

Prabowo stressed that waste management has now become a national priority. "In two to three years, we must control all the waste in Indonesia," he said during his visit to the Environment and Education-Based Final Disposal Site (TPST BLE) in Banyumas Regency, Central Java, on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.
