1. National Library of Indonesia
Established in 1980, Perpusnas has deep historical roots dating back to 1778 with its connection to the Bataviaasch Genootschap. In early 2025, Perpusnas received the MURI award as the world’s tallest library at 27 stories. The library offers a range of services, including multimedia, audiovisual collections, and reading rooms, with over 7 million items cataloged as of 2022.
2. Prabowo Welcomes Australian PM Anthony Albanese at Merdeka Palace
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto received Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta today, Thursday, May 15, 2025. Albanese's visit marks his first official visit abroad after winning the general election.
Albanese's convoy arrived at the Merdeka Palace around 10:02 AM local time. Before reaching the palace gate, the convoy passed by the National Monument, accompanied by cavalry.
Meanwhile, elementary and middle school students waved Indonesian and Australian flags along the roadside as the convoy entered the palace's front yard.
Prabowo personally greeted Albanese at the palace's front yard. A 21-gun salute was fired as the national anthems of both countries were played.
3. Jakarta's Joint Forces: Police and Military Launch Anti-Thuggery Initiative
The Jakarta Metropolitan Police, together with the Indonesian National Army (TNI) and the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), conducted the Berantas Jaya 2025 Operation on Tuesday night, May 13, 2025.
The Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Grand Commissioner Ade Ary Syam Indradi, stated that a total of 734 personnel were deployed in this operation.
"534 personnel are in open deployment, while 200 are undercover, targeting thuggery that has been disturbing the public," he said when encountered at the Kembangan Police Sector, West Jakarta, on Tuesday night, May 13, 2025.
