2025 FIFA Club World Cup: 8 Teams Have Qualified for Round of 16

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Eight teams have secured spots in the round of 16 of the 2025 Club World Cup, with four of them from Group A and Group B, which played their final group stage matches on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.

Inter Miami and Palmeiras are the two latest clubs to advance to the round of 16 after both teams drew 2-2 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on Tuesday morning. Tadeo Allende and Luis Suarez scored the goals that put Inter Miami ahead 2-0 before Paulinho and Mauricio scored in the final ten minutes to end the match in a draw. With this result, both teams accumulated five points, but Palmeiras advanced due to a better goal difference.

Group B has also completed all of the group stage matches, with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Botafogo both advancing to the round of 16.

PSG secured its spot as the leader of Group B after a 2-0 victory over Sounders in their final match on Tuesday early morning. The goals for the reigning Champions League winners were scored by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Achraf Hakimi.

Meanwhile, Botafogo advanced despite a 0-1 loss to Atletico Madrid in the final group stage match. Antoine Griezmann's goal wasn't enough to carry his team to the knockout stage due to the goal difference against PSG, even though Botafogo also accumulated six points from two wins in the group.

Atletico Madrid's heavy 0-4 defeat to PSG in their first match was the reason for their elimination in the group stage. But they managed to win 3-1 against Sounders in the second match.

The other three teams are Flamengo, Juventus, and Manchester City, all of whom have won their first two matches. Even though they still have one match remaining, they have secured their tickets to the round of 16.

Flamengo won 2-0 against ES Tunis in the first match of Group D, followed by a 3-1 victory over Chelsea. These results have earned the Brazilian team six points, and they will face the bottom team of the group, LAFC, in the last group stage match on Wednesday morning, June 25, 2025.

Next, Juventus and Manchester City, both in Group G, have accumulated six points from two victories each. They will face off on Friday early morning, June 27, 2025, to compete for the group champion title.
