TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The match between the Indonesian national team and Iraq is part of the fourth round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers in the Asian zone. It will be held at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at 2:30 a.m. WIB (Western Indonesia Time) and broadcast live on RCTI and Vision+.

For the Indonesian national team, this match is a make-or-break situation. Their loss to Saudi Arabia in the opening match made it even more challenging for Garuda to reach the World Cup finals. Despite putting up a fight with two penalty goals by Kevin Diks in the 11th and 88th minutes, Indonesia was defeated 2-3 in the duel in Jeddah.

Saudi Arabia secured the victory with goals from Saleh Abu Al-Shamat and Firas Al-Buraikan. Indonesia is now in last place in Group B with zero points and a goal difference of -1, while Saudi Arabia is in first place and a strong favorite to directly qualify for the 2026 World Cup finals.

However, Indonesia's chances are not completely gone. If they defeat Iraq under Patrick Kluivert's guidance, the team can keep hope alive of advancing to the fifth round. Indonesia needs Iraq to defeat Saudi Arabia in the last group match on Wednesday, October 15, while maintaining an advantage in goal difference.

Another issue is that Iraq has been improving leading up to this match. The team, known as the Lions of Mesopotamia, just won the King's Cup in Thailand. This result indicates an improvement in performance under Australian coach Graham Arnold.
