Apple Plans to Bring Haptic Buttons to Entire Product Line

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Apple is reportedly developing haptic buttons for its future devices. According to MacRumors report, a leaker named Instant Digital on the Weibo app stated that the buttons will not only be available on the iPhone.

"The account has doubled down on the claim, saying the project is not just active for the iPhone, but for Apple's entire product line," quoted from the MacRumors report on Friday, May 30, 2025.

The leaker mentioned that the production barriers for haptic buttons are not in the production costs but in touch errors. The accuracy of the button's response is not always guaranteed. The issue is that the current button design is said to be directly integrated into the body and without bounce when clicked.

Apple is said to be striving to better mimic the experience of pressing the mechanical buttons still in common use today. Unlike regular buttons, the haptic button will not depress when pressed, but will provide vibration feedback.

The purpose of this button is to reduce mechanical wear while allowing users to differentiate between light and hard presses to trigger different functions.

"The project was believed to be on hold while Apple prioritized display and battery technology advancements for upcoming models," according to MacRumors.
