TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) advises residents in Jakarta and surrounding areas to be alert for the potential of rain accompanied by thunder or lightning from late afternoon to tonight, on Sunday, June 1, 2025.
Local showers with the potential of strong winds are predicted to hit some areas of North Jakarta, Tangerang City, South Tangerang City, and Bogor Regency.
Based on a 24-hour weather forecast from BMKG, partly cloudy to overcast weather will initiate in most areas of Jabodetabek today, precisely from 01:00 AM to 07:00 AM WIB. From morning until approaching 01:00 PM WIB, the weather will gradually become mostly clear.
Entering midday until late evening at around 07:00 PM WIB, several areas will be predominantly overcast with the potential of light rain in some parts of North Jakarta, West Jakarta, Central Jakarta, East Jakarta, South Jakarta, Tangerang Regency, Tangerang City, South Tangerang City, Bogor City, Bogor Regency, Depok City, Depok City, Bekasi City, and Bekasi Regency.
The air temperature in the Jabodetabek area today ranges from 24-32 degrees Celsius, while the temperature in Bogor is lower, around 20-33 degrees Celsius.
Atmospheric Dynamics for the Next Week
Over the next week, most areas of Indonesia are still in a transitional season. This phase is marked by high intensity of sunlight in the morning until midday, triggering the formation of convective clouds and increasing the potential for local showers from afternoon to night.
Forecasts for the ten-day rainfall period from late May to mid-June 2025 indicate that most areas are in the low to moderate category (10-150 mm per ten days). Nevertheless, rain with high to very high intensity (>150 mm per ten days) is expected to fall in several regions, such as Papua, Maluku, South Sulawesi, Kalimantan, and some areas in Java and Nusa Tenggara.
Strong atmospheric instability also drives the growth of convective clouds in several areas, especially in the northern part of Sumatra, Java, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua.
