Ex-Pertamina Chief Nicke Widyawati Grilled Again in Widening Corruption Scandal

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The investigation into the alleged corruption case involving the management of crude oil and refinery products at Pertamina remains ongoing at the Attorney General's Office.

Since naming the first suspects on February 25, 2025, prosecutors have yet to finalize the case files. To date, nine individuals have been identified as suspects in the Pertamina corruption case.

Investigators from the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) have continued to question witnesses, including former Pertamina President Director Nicke Widyawati. "NW, as the President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) from 2018 to 2024," stated Harli Siregar, head of the Attorney General's Office Legal Information Center, in an official statement on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.

Nicke had previously been questioned in connection with the crude oil management case. So far, no officials from Pertamina Holding have been named among the nine suspects. Instead, six officials from Pertamina subsidiaries and three individuals from the private sector have been implicated.

The suspects from Pertamina subsidiaries include: President Director of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Riva Siahaan; Director of Feedstock and Product Optimization at PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional Sani Dinar Saifuddin; President Director of PT Pertamina International Shipping Yoki Firnandi; Vice President of Feedstock Management at PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional Agus Purwono; Director of Marketing Center and Trading at PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Maya Kusmaya; and Vice President of Trading Operation at Pertamina Patra Niaga Edward Corne.

From the private sector, investigators have named Muhammad Kerry Ardianto (the son of oil magnate Muhammad Riza Chalid) as a suspect, along with two associates: Dimas Werhaspati, Commissioner of PT Navigator Khatulistiwa and PT Jenggala Maritim; and Gading Ramadan Joede, Commissioner of PT Jenggala Maritim and President Director of PT Orbit Terminal Merak. Kerry is also a shareholder in PT Navigator Khatulistiwa.

Alongside Nicke, five additional witnesses were questioned on the same day. Looking ahead, between June 2-4, 2025, investigators are scheduled to question several Pertamina vendors based in Singapore. These sessions will be conducted in Singapore.

In the Pertamina corruption case, investigators have discovered several criminal acts. Among them are the markup of 13-15 percent in the import transportation of crude oil, the existence of conspiracies in the import process, and the purchase of Ron 92 fuel, but receiving Ron 90 or less.
