TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The South Jakarta District Court will hold the inaugural hearing today for the pretrial motion filed by Febrie Adriansyah, the former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes at the Attorney General's Office. The respondents in this lawsuit are the Jakarta Metro Police Chief, the National Police's Corruption Eradication Corps, and the Attorney General's Office of the Republic of Indonesia.
According to the South Jakarta District Court's Case Tracking Information System (SIPP), the hearing is scheduled to begin at 09:10 WIB (Western Indonesian Time). "We urge all parties to respect the proceedings of the pretrial hearing taking place today," said Febrie's lawyer, Febri Diansyah, in a written statement on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.
He stated that a pretrial hearing is a legal forum designed to examine whether actions taken during law enforcement proceedings adhered to applicable regulations and procedures. Therefore, he asked all parties to allow the judge space to objectively examine and assess the case.
Febri explained that the pretrial hearing would be used to test the legality of several actions taken during the handling of the case involving his client. These include the naming of the suspect without prior questioning and the search of a house in Sentul, Bogor.
"What we are challenging in this pretrial motion is the procedure—specifically, whether the naming of the suspect, the search, and other coercive measures were carried out in accordance with applicable regulations. We are submitting these matters for the judge to examine and evaluate," said Febri.
Febri stated that Febrie Adriansyah's decision to file a pretrial motion reflects respect for the legal process, as debates regarding procedural law should be addressed and tested within the pretrial forum as stipulated by legislation.
He emphasized that the step taken by his client was not an attempt to obstruct the legal process, but rather the exercise of a right granted by law to every individual, regardless of their background or position.
