TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has recorded floods that occurred in parts of the capital city on Monday, August 4, 2025, are now subsiding on Tuesday morning. BPBD had previously reported that puddles had formed in the East Jakarta area due to yesterday's heavy rain.
"BPBD noted that as of Tuesday, August 5, at 00:00 WIB (Western Indonesian Time), all inundations in the Jakarta area have subsided," said the Head of Data and Information Center or Kapusdatin at BPBD Jakarta, Mohamad Yohan, in a written statement on Tuesday.
The rain that hit the capital city and its surrounding areas caused inundations in at least 15 neighborhood units (RT) and 1 road section in East Jakarta in the afternoon until late at night. In certain areas, according to BPBD data, the flood height reached 50 to 100 centimeters.
Yohan said that flood mitigation efforts were carried out by various cross-sectoral regional apparatus organizations (OPDs). Besides BPBD, other OPDs such as the Water Resources Agency, the Fire and Rescue Agency, the Highways Agency, the Environmental Agency, the Public Order Agency, and the Handling of Infrastructure and Public Facilities at the Village Level also participated in handling the puddles.
Yohan stated that various agencies also deployed personnel along with supporting equipment such as mobile pumps to drain the inundations and ensure that the water channels functioned properly. "The role of the community is also involved in this effort, such as neighborhood unit heads, the Community Early Warning System Forum, and other community leaders," said Yohan.
Although the floods have now subsided, Yohan still urged the public to be cautious and vigilant against the potential for inundations. "In case of emergency, immediately contact the number 112. This service is free and operates 24 hours non-stop," he said.
According to data reports from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the weather in the Jakarta area is generally predicted to have light rain on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. Central Jakarta, South Jakarta, East Jakarta, and West Jakarta are expected to have light rain today, while North Jakarta and the Thousand Islands are predicted to be cloudy.
